BLOOD AND ANTI DOPING CONTROL AT I.U.T.A. CHAMPIONSHIP

Dear organizers

With beginning of 1st of july 2002, we introduce a new Blood and Anti-Doping Control for IUTA-Worldchampionships in Double Iron, Triple Iron and Decatriathlon.

1. Control of hematocrit at IUTA World Championship

1.1. All athletes have to bring their own analysis of the red blood cells made by their treating doctor before the competition. This blood sample should be taken within 30 days before the race and analyzed in a recognized laboratory.

1.2. All data of the red blood cells of all athletes have to be checked by the medical doctor before the race.

1.3. The medical race doctor has to take a blood sample of all athletes at least 24 hours before the start of the race. Hematocrit has to be analysed in a recognized laboratory with recognized quality control. It is recommended to analyse the blood samples in the nearest hospital laboratory.

1.4. Athletes with a hematocrit above 50 % have to be analysed again before the race.

1.5. Athletes with a hematocrit above 51 % without proof (hematocrit certificate, normal hematocrit above 51 %) have to be excluded from the race.

1.6. All reports about laboratory data have to be sent after the race to the Vice-President.

1.7. Athletes without a hematocrit value will not be classified in the definitive results of the Worldchampionship.

2. Anti-Doping Control at IUTA World Championship

2.1. The first three athletes (male and female) of the race will be subject to the anti doping control.

2.2. In the Worldchampionship Decatriathlon, the leading three athletes (male and female) have to be tested every 48 hours and at the end of the race. Urine has to be analysed during the race. After the analyses, urine has to be stored at –80° Celsius in the laboratory for eventual additional analyses.

2.3. The doping control has to be executed by the medical doctor of the race.

2.4. The presence of prohibited classes of substances according to http://www.wada-ama.org has to be tested. The most important are

A Stimulants: amphetamines, caffeine, ephedrines
B Narcotics: morphine, pethidine, buprenorphine
C Anabolic agents: nandrolone, stanozolol, androstenedione, DHEA, testosterone
D Diuretics: furosemide, hydrocholorthiazide, spironolactone, triamterene
E Peptide hormones: hCG, LH, ACTH, hGH, IGF-1, EPO

2.5. When beverages including caffeine are offered by the race director or by a race sponsor, the limit of caffeine in the urine (12 ?g/ml) has to be neglected.

2.6. The type of analysis and the specific levels are determind by the official laboratory in the corresponding country where the competition takes place. If possible, the analysis should be done in a laboratory accredited by the International Olympic Committee for Doping Control Analyses

2.7. An athlete is tested negative when probe A is negative or/and when probe A is positive and probe B is negative.

2.8. An athlete is tested positive when probe A is positive and probe B also is positive

2.9. A positive tested athlete will be withdrawn from the ranking of the Worldchampionship, from the ranking of the IUTA-World-Circuit and is suspended for 1 year from all races of the IUTA World Circuit.

2.10. When the winner has to be withdrawn, the second place will become winner. Prize money, medal and awards have to be given to the new winner.

2.11. Suspension from the IUTA World Circuit and/or exclusion from other races will be communicated by the President of the IUTA to the concerning athlete, the concerning race and the national triathlon association of the concerning athlete.

2.12. A copy of the results of the antidoping control has to be sent to the Vice-President of the IUTA.

This direction comes into force the 1st of July 2002 and has to be respected by all organizers of an IUTA World Championship in Ultratriathlon.

Violation of this direction implies exclusion of the organizer for future IUTA World Circuit Races
